Welcome again to this week's word for the week. Every so often we will be headed down a particular pathway in dealing with things and then all of a sudden the Lord will say it's time to shift. It's not always a smooth turn around the bend. Sometimes, He is literally saying to make a turn down this road right here and right now. Well, this week is one of those weeks so lets' get straight into what He is speaking to us.
If there is something that needs to be said more often in this time it is the importance of us living today as if it may be our last day. Don't worry, no one is speaking your end of life here. Rather, it is a call to make the most of the time you do have left. After all, none of know how much more time is remaining and that's where this comes in at. Now is not the time to still allow old things to linger that are doing nothing but being a hindrance in your life. Now is the time to be set free once and for all. You do that by beginning to fix the things that are right in front of you and that God has given you the ability to do something about.
That animosity you've been having with someone for who knows how long? It's time to fix that by forgiving. This is for your benefit. You don't forgive because you're weak. It takes great strength to forgive but you do so with the things God has in store for you. You don't forgive for any other reason other than you know for yourself you need God to forgive you too. If He held over your head even half of what you hold others there would be no point in you even trying to continue on this journey. It's only stressing you out to not forgive.
Now is the time to get serious about the things of God. You never had as much time as you thought you did. You have a window of time in which you must do as much as you possibly can. Jesus told His disciples that there are twelve hours in a day and that they must take advantage of every moment given to them. Your excuse for standing still is only valid in your eyes but not in the eyes of Christ. At some point that needs to really sink in or else you will never accomplish what you were put here for.
Now is the time to pray more, listen more, and seek God more. This is not the season to skip over passages that the Holy Ghost is trying to lead you to. You can't pray and ask God to lead and guide you and then flip the pages when it's not what you want to hear. Now is the time to be humble and teachable. Now is the time to really come into the knowledge of truth and understanding. In all of your getting you are charged in the word of God to get an understanding. It is important for you to not always know why but what God is up to. You need to be able to see yourself in the lives of others who are recorded in the bible. You need to be able to both learn from their triumphs as well as their setbacks. You'll become strong until you've experienced what it's like to be first be weak.
The last thing you will need is the ability to wait on the Lord. I'm not talking about standing still and doing nothing while you complain about things. I'm talking about learning how to wait while you learn. You can complain all day about nothing happening but the question from God can be what are you learning while you wait? Are you becoming stronger while you wait. Olympic athletes have to wait four years to redeem themselves from a loss if they lose but they are not doing nothing. They are training to get better. They are more focused and when you see them come back and win later it is because they were both determined and committed. Nothing is different in your walk with Christ. Until you are determined and committed you will never see the fullness of joy that is a result of all you've been through. So, make the most of the time you have and be all that God has called you to be!
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
