Welcome again to this week's word for the week. As we continue to push through the new year we soon realize it does not seem so new now. After the excitement of new things starts to disappear we find a reality that exists every year. A new year does not simply change things by itself. It simply means the dates on the calendar have changed. For you and I to change, it takes more than just dates on a calendar. That takes commitment and it is always easier said than done.
Meaning well is not always good enough. You have to do more than just mean well. It sounds easy to say we simply need to do well but the reality is that we cannot do that on our own. The obvious answer is that we need Jesus and that is true. The wall between us and Him at times is simply a matter of will. What do we will do? Do we really want to commit to all of the things that it will take? Are we simply talking the talk or are we ready to walk the walk? As I always say here, anyone can say anything but not just anyone can do something.
If you are serious about changing then you're going to have to be serious about what it takes. This is the year that you no longer are led by your own ambitions and will. This is the year that you restrain yourself so that God can have His way in your life. This is not the year of making excuses. This is not the year of acting like you do not know any better. This is not the year of hiding or pretending. This is the year that your prayer is both honest and sincere before God. This is the year that you ask Him to do a real work of deliverance in you.
There has to come a time in your life when you are no longer willing to settle for ordinary. There has to come a time in your life when you want all that God has in store for you. There comes a time when you are both willing and obedient. There comes a time when you say whatever it takes and you actually mean it. There is no such thing as you cannot accomplish the things that God has for you. If you could not do it then He would not assign it to you. It's for you for a reason. The question is are you up to the task at hand?
The challenge this week is this. What are the things you need to be doing? Not what you want to do or what you have been doing. What do you need to be doing? Who would willingly know that God has great things in store for them and then seemingly do everything they can to undo it? Get your focus on God and the things He is trying to build in your life. Get your attention on the things you can make a difference with and that are a part of your destiny. The things that are not are the things that it is time to let go of. The maximum effective range of an excuse is zero. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can walk in what God has for you. What's your choice going to be?
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
