Welcome again to this week's word for the week. I have been wanting to address something for several weeks but I really needed to wait on the Lord said the time was right. This week's word is really a matter of practical advice and wisdom. We all are very much aware of Covid-19 as it is now called. As we all know, there is a real push to put it on the back burner. However, we need to be aware that this is not a global matter but rather one in our country and only in certain states. Let's go further.
As Christians it is our place to pray for those in authority. That by itself can seem to be a difficult task when we watch how some of them conduct themselves. Nevertheless, it is our place to pray. We need to always remember there is power in prayer. It doesn't take much to understand you and I are going to need to pray now more than ever. There are two things we need to consider here. God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and sound mind. Yet, we need to use wisdom in our daily living. To put those two together it means that while we're not fearful we still are careful.
I had a long conversation with one of my uncles tonight and I lost count how many times he said no weapon formed against him would prosper. They were not simply words in the bible he was repeating. I could tell over the phone that he truly meant it every time he said it. He's around hundreds of people daily and during this time it's important for him to have both true faith and wisdom. He prays and yet he still wears his mask. It's not just him that he's thinking about but also the well being of those around him. Do you see a pattern here?
There is no harm in being careful. I'm absolutely sure it's not comfortable wearing a mask but this is not about comfort. The mask is not for you to not get what someone else may have. It's to keep others from getting what you may have. Imagine if everyone understood that. We don't live in a perfect world and yet we serve a perfect God. Using wisdom is something the bible teaches us in a clear manner. It's better to be uncomfortable and live to tell your testimony. This is not just about you. This is also about others around you.
This is not a message or call for you to wear a mask. This is a call to think about your faith and others. This is a call to realize it is not the responsibility of our government to tell you everything. We serve a God who is bigger than any government and yet He says to obey the laws of the land in which we're in. Prayer also requires action at times. While we pray there are times we still need to do our part. Now is that time. Don't wait for the government to educate your loved ones. You do that. You cover them in prayer and teach them how to live by wisdom. We have to live. We have to have faith. We have to know wisdom. In other words, while we live for God by faith let us always remember that wisdom is the principle thing and we need to make sure we have complete understanding.
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
