Welcome again to this week's word for the week. If you could be anything what would you be? Where would you be? What would you be doing? If you know me then you know those questions are a setup. It doesn't matter what you want to be, where you want to be, or what you want to be doing. Your life belongs to Christ and not to yourself so there's no choice in the matter.
Let's go further here this week. Those are the very things saved people struggle with. They want to be what they want to be, where they want to be, and do what they want to do. We have heard countless times that we are bought with a price. The question is what does that mean to you? I'm learning as the years go by that nothing changes until we believe, accept, and live by what God says. There are many dream chasers. The question is where are the God chasers?
If I could be anything I would be a better servant of Christ. My daily prayer is more of Him and less of me. I want to please Him according to His will. I want to give Him what He wants and expects. I don't like a bunch of surprises because I may get something I clearly don't want. If God wants worship we need to see that as a demand and not an option. If He wants holiness out of our life living we need to see that as a requirement and not an option. We live as if we have options when our only true option is to say yes to His will.
The enemy cannot simply confuse us. There has to be something we want and shouldn't have in order for us to question why. We don't question what we wanted to let go of anyhow. We question what we want to hold on to and wonder why God won't let us have it. Let me ask a question here. Can you really explain to a baby and have them understand why they can't play with the light socket and stick a fork in the holes? No you cannot. What you can do is train them not to do it and in time as they grow older and can understand they will learn why.
We fail to see ourselves as babies at times and instead we want to start every chapter fully grown. Life in the Kingdom of God does not work that way. We have to learn to simply accept His direction then we learn the reason why later. Everything cannot be explained at the moment or else precious time will be lost while you're headed to your destination. You have to learn how to just realize God really does sit high and He looks low. He's in a place where He can danger that you and I don't even realize is there.
You cannot pick and choose what you want to be but I tell you a few things you can choose. You can choose Christ, salvation, holiness, righteousness, truth, praise, worship, love, a zeal for God, honesty, faithfulness, sincerity, and a host of other characteristics of Christ. You don't have to wait to make those choices. You can choose all of those this day. You don't have to waste time chasing after what you want. You can simply pray and find out what God wants for you. Your life doesn't have to be complicated. It is God's desire that we simply say yes, allow Him to be our true Father, and one day spend our eternity with Him. It's not difficult at all. We just need a sincere willingness and obedience.
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
