Welcome again to this week's word for the week. One of the most difficult times in your life is not when everything is going bad. It's not when it seems like it's one thing after another. One of the most difficult times in your life is when God is doing something that will change you beyond your control. This may sound easy but the reality is that it is difficult. It's difficult because we put so much time into becoming who we are rather that's good or bad. Let's go further.
When God is getting ready to do a spiritual makeover in you it can hurt. It doesn't hurt your spirit. It hurts your flesh and ego. It hurts because you suddenly find yourself being driven into what is the unknown for you at the moment. The hard truth is something that is seldom talked about and this is it right here. It only hurts when you're not necessarily ready to give up all of you to become all that He wants you to be. There is a conflict that must be worked out within us before we can truly say yes to God.
Hang in there with me because there is a blessing in all of this. We know the Bible tells us that we have not heard all of the things God has in store for us. We jump and shout at the thought of great things coming from God. We don't jump and shout over the great things that are hindrances within us that need to be moved. Change is tough! It's not easy and it's not always supposed to be easy. Our job is simple. It's to always remember in times of change that all things work together for our good. The catch is we must love God for it to work.
Give this some thought before we close this week. Moses went through a major transformation before he could deliver his people. He literally had to be put on the backside of the desert for forty years to undo everything he had learned the first forty years of his life. Do you think that was easy? Can you imagine around the five year mark that God still wasn't done with him? Can you imagine that at the five year mark he still had another thirty-five years to go before he would be ready to lead? Like it or not, it's not easy for God to undo all of the things we've taken on in our lives that shouldn't be there in the first place.
So here's something to think about this week. What really needs to change in your life? Do you really know the reason why? Are you aware of just how much change will be necessary? Do you see just how much this will cost you? When is the last time you truly sat down and talked to God? When is the last time you told you that whatever His will is for you is what it shall be in your life? When is the last time you said yes without being stubborn and rebellious first? Anybody can hide behind church. Not everyone can wrap themselves up in the presence of God and be comfortable staying there. The question is are you really ready for all that God has in store for you or are you just excited about something else being on the way?
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
