Welcome again to this week's word for the week. There is one word that the Lord just put in my spirit to share with you all this week. That word is sacrifice. If you're going to see the true blessings of God in your life you're going to have to be willing to sacrifice. Sacrifice is not always about what you're willing to give up. It's also what you're willing to take on. Let's go further here.
When one hears the word sacrifice the first thing that comes to mind is what they need to give up. You can sacrifice in a multitude of ways. The truth is what you may need to sacrifice will vary depending on what you're doing. One moment you may need to give up some free time in order to spend more time with God. Another moment may find you needing to sacrifice things in order to make room for other things. The real point in this though is that this journey is not a free and casual ride. It's going to cost you something at some point.
How much would you give up in order to have more of God? Time doesn't just drop out of the sky. We have to make time to spend with God. Are you willing to get up an hour earlier in order to study and pray? Are you willing to go to bed an hour earlier so you can get up earlier? Do you even see the value in doing so? A lot of times people do not do things because they don't see the value in what they need to do. We should be very concerned when we start to question the need to do extra things for God. A willing heart is priceless!
Sometimes our sacrifice is not always about what we need to give up as much as it is about what we need to take on. There is a price when helping others. Are you willing to pay that price? There are times when helping others that it's more about our willingness than anything else. Are you willing to share your space that's already there? There are people who will have a spare bedroom that is decorated and yet hope no one ever needs to stay there. Let's not underestimate how much selfishness can get in the way of our sacrifice.
Give this some thought this week. What are you willing to give up for more of God in your life? How long are you wiling to make that sacrifice? Are you truly aware of the cost before you say you'll do anything? Are you really aware of how much you may have to let go of? Everyone is excited about good food in a restaurant until they get the bill and realize good things do come at a cost. It's not like God doesn't want to reach you. The question is what are you willing to do in order to get in place and stay in place for Him to reach you? Here's the last point. There is no sacrifice that you make for God that does not have a reward far greater than what you sacrificed to get it!
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
