Welcome again to this week's word for the week. What excites you about God? What brings you joy when you think about God? Is it things? Is it being able to hear His voice and know that it's really Him? Is it being able to go on vacation to where you want to go? What is is about God that truly brings you excitement? These questions don't have to be difficult so let's go further here for this week's word.
There is no such thing as godliness without contentment. You have to learn how to be content. This goes beyond things though. This is something that needs to transfer to our thinking and the way we carry ourselves. Let me ask you a question here for a moment. When is the last time you took time to enjoy what God was doing at the very moment in your life without looking forward to something else? In other words, when is the last time you simply enjoyed what He was doing right then and there?
So often we look so far forward until we miss what's happening right now. Someone can have a baby today and in the midst of thinking about the child's life can start talking about how the 16th birthday will be. How about thinking about their first words or their first steps? What about when they have their first day of school or when they graduate from Elementary School? There are plenty of other things to enjoy before they get anywhere near sixteen. If one is not careful they will look back and realize there are years gone that cannot be replaced. There is a real point this week.
The bible says that tomorrow will take care of the things of tomorrow. We can't control tomorrow and we're not even promised to see it. Nothing says that we can't enjoy the right now. There's nothing stopping you from thanking God for this day. This is the day the Lord has made but the question is will "you" be glad in it? Will you realize it's a miracle just to see today and will you take time to enjoy it? Everyday is not going to be your best day but everyday with Jesus beats any day without Him. I'd rather have Jesus above anything else at the end of the day.
So many times people are so frustrated by what they're waiting for until they forget to simply thank God for today. None of us had to live to see this day. None of us reading this have to even have the ability to do so. Nobody stops you from smiling today except for you. God has given you joy in the midst of it all. He's given you peace that can't even be explained. He's given you comfort that seems unfair to the unbeliever who's watching your life. He's done so much but do you realize it?
We spend so much time complaining about what's happening or not happening in our lives. Nothing just happens. Everything about your life has a purpose but the real question is do you realize that? The next time you feel down and out about something remind yourself that it's not over until God says it's over. The next time you want to give up and throw in the towel remind yourself that when Jesus was up on that cross He could've did the same thing but He didn't. There's always a reason to have hope. There's always a reason to believe when all of the odds are stacked against you.
This is the season of peace. It's not a statement to make you feel good. It's the truth. Some of you reading this have fought some hard battles this year and yet you're still here standing. Did you think that God was going to end your year on a low note after all you've been through? Is there still a flicker of hope in you that trusts He won't leave you or forsake you? Nobody is your reason for quitting or giving up. You have to take that blame if you quit. However, there is some hope. You can believe that God is not done with you and enjoy what's taking place or you can say there's no hope. What's your decision going to be is the real question? Whatever your storm may be always remember that this too shall pass!
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
