Welcome again to this week's word for the week. Well, another year is rapidly coming to a close. The new year will be here before we know God willing. As we take some time to reflect over this year I'm sure we've all had both some good and not so good moments. There's been highs and lows for sure but prayerfully you've had more highs than lows. That brings me to my point for this week so let's get straight to the point here.
You always have a choice on what you focus on. You can look at the good or the bad. You can look at the positive or the negative. You can look at the ups or the downs. You can look at the success or the failure. You can make your choice as long as you know some things will not do anything to make you better. Give this some thought for a moment. Look back over this year or at least as much about it as you can remember. What are some of the great things God has done in your life?
You see, every now and then you need to see just how far God has allowed you to go. Sometimes you need to stop long enough to look back and see how far you've truly come along. Maybe you're not where you want to be but have you made progress? Have you moved forward at all? If so, do you realize just how far you may have moved forward? Sometimes we get so bogged down with the things that are not going good until we don't realize God is moving us forward and this is just another test.
It is not until you look back at the good that you realize God has been doing great things in your life. You should have made progress by now that was not in place when the year first started. There should be something different and better about you by now. You should be at a point where you believe God more than ever. Your prayer life should be better now than it was when the year first started. Your time spent with God should be more meaningful. Your ability to discern the voice of the Lord should be stronger by now.
There are some things that have been accomplished this year in your life that have never been done before. Your mindset should be different by now. Your bad habits should be gone. Your attitude should have changed and how you treat people should have improved. When you look in the mirror you should be able to realize for yourself that God has truly done a work in you. Anything less simply means you need to take God more seriously. You need to take your Christian walk more seriously.
You can truly do this. God doesn't give us more than we can handle. He doesn't put things on us that are impossible. He expects the best from us because He wants the best for us. God is not trying to set us for failure. He is trying to set us up to win! Don't lose hope at the end. Don't give up when God may not be done with you yet. Hold on to God in this season with everything you got. Don't lose your grip on Him. Fight to stay near the cross. Fight to the expected end God has promised you. Again, take some time to smell the roses as they say. Take some time to just see what God is doing and how marvelous it is in our eyes!!
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
