Welcome again to this week's word for the week. I need to get straight to the point this week while everything is still fresh in me concering this week's word. This year you may notice a slight change but it will actually be for the better. I hope to do things more in a series format. This will allow for more smaller portions that offer far more detail on the subject matter. By doing so, it will allow us to focus more on specific things and thereby be more of a blessing to you.
Romans 8:37 says in all things we are more than conquerors. I'm paraphrasing for a reason. That declaration is made after a list of things that cannot cause us to be disconnected from God. In keeping with our theme this year of freedom you need to give that some real thought. At the end of the day what can really separate you from God? That is a question that you need to make sure is settled in you.
You need to know that you will stand at all times. You need to know your reason for having hope in Christ. You need to know how valuable God is to you. You need to know what the blood of Christ means to you. You need to know what being saved means to you. You need to know these things because you will face moments when those reasons are what will keep you anchored in Christ. Make no mistakes about it, you won't be able to simply waltz through this year. You are going to have to roll up your sleeves from time to time and be ready to wage war at a moment's notice!
Now think for a moment on all of the things you really want God to set you free from. I'm not talking about those things you didn't mind sharing with others. I'm talking about those things no one else knows you're asking for except you and God. There's no need to act like there's nothing in your life that is not that personal. I didn't say it had to be anything drastic. It just needs to be personal. Give that some real thought so that you can truly be set free.
Now this week's point is a lot easier than you think. In all things we are more than conquerors. More than. Not just barely. Not just a little. More than. In other words simply having the victory is not the end of your story. Remember that God has already said he will restore the years back to us. Your conqueroring is far bigger and greater than your right now. There are some things that have been deeply rooted that God wants to set you free from this year.
Make no mistake about it. We're not talking about the casaul stuff. We're talking about getting your prayer life back to the point that you see the results of your prayer. We're talking about your entire being changing. I'm talking about your thought process, your perception, the way you see things, and the way you hear and interpret. You don't go to the next level by being ordinary. You don't do just a little more than what you've been doing and expect greater things. No, you need to be stretched by God. You need to go beyond your own limitations so that you can truly see His power and glory.
Let me end with this for you to think about. Do you think you've been through ALL you've been through just a small breakthrough? Do you think your suffering has been in vain? Do you think your tears have been for nothing? When God speaks a thing He makes it good. Really give this last point some time in thought. Everything God created in Genesis was through words. Everything was called good after it was created. When it came to man God did not simply speak. He took time and He formed us. In other words, we are handcrafted for His glory. If the spoken things are called good what do you think you are? More than a conqueror!
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
Bishop Carlos J. Lennon
