Welcome again to this week's word for the week. God may not show up when you want Him to but He will be there right on time. Chances are you've heard someone say that if you've been saved for any length of time. It's a true phrase for sure and one that can serve to give you hope when you feel weary. As God began to stir that in me for this week's word He also began to show me a few simple but powerful things to go along with it.
Have you ever arrived at a place too early? You get there and no one is there so there's nothing to do but to sit and wait. It's not the most fun one can have and it's very easy to become frustrated. God's timing is not our timing. When we want things we want them as soon as possible, but sometimes we're on track to get there too early. Again, God works in His timing so make sure you keep that in mind this week.
Sometimes we are on track to arrive too early and God needs to do things to slow us down a bit. There's things we want and sometimes we're simply too anxious. Yes, we know the bible says to be anxious for nothing and yet if we're honest with ourselves we can admit we've done the exact opposite at times. So here's the real point this week. Slow down and calm down. Don't be in such a hurry for what you're looking for.
God is making sure all things are prepared and in order. He wants to give us the full measure of what He has in store for us. He wants us to be fulfilled and completely blessed. Everything doesn't have to be done at once in spite of what you may hope for. Skyscrapers are not built in a month or even six months. They take a tremendous amount of time, resources, and patience. There will be setbacks along the way but the final product will be a thing of beauty.
There are some things in your life you literally need God to prepare you for. If not, you will easily undo what He's done because of your lack of being prepared. It's not always what we do that causes us to miss things. Sometimes, it's what we're not prepared to do. Let God build you and if you're honest you can probably say that's exactly what He's doing with you. It never has to feel good. It just needs to work for your good and you should never forget that.
Arriving too early can cause you to be lonely and miserable. You want to arrive at the very time God has in store for you to get there. Take time this week to look at some areas in your life where you just need to slow down a bit in. Look at those areas where you just need to take a step back and let God work some things out. Look at those areas you are anxious in and make it your purpose to put those very things in the hand of God and to trust His timing. The last thing you want is for God to show up and you're not ready. Allow Him to prepare you now and you will appreciate the process even more in due time!
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
Bishop Carlos J. Lennon
