Welcome again to this week's word for the week. I can tell you to hold on because God will show up. I can tell you that God won't leave you or forsake you. I can tell you that God has all things in His hands. I can tell you that God may not show up when you Him but He will be there right on time. I can tell you those things and yet one important thing will remain. Do you believe that for yourself?
It is not about how you can hold on when there's hope. It's not about how you can hold on when you can see a flicker of light in your situation. Your true test is can you hold on and believe God when there seems to be no way? Can you hold on when it feels like there's nothing to hold on for? Let me hopefully say a few things that will bless you this week. God will test us many different ways and at many different times. Sometimes the test comes down to one simple thing. Do you believe God?
It's easy to answer with a yes. It's easy to say you're not weary of that you don't feel like giving up. It's easy to say you don't wonder where God is. But, there are times when all of those very things will be going on and at the same time. Yes, God will put us in what we call the ultimate test but it's all for our good. So here's the encouragement this week. Your test is not designed to tear you down or leave you will nothing. Your test is designed to build you up and leave you with everything God has promised you!
Learn how to take the good with the bad. Learn how to take criticism the same way you take the applause. Learn how to still praise God even after He has rebuked you. Learn how to stand up when you wish you could run and hide somewhere. God is doing a work not just for you but in you. Shots don't feel good in the doctor's office and yet they make you feel better later once you get home. Your results don't have to instant or immediate. They just need to work in due time.
So let me leave you with a few things that you can do to help yourself. Learn how to pray not just simply for what you want or what you think it is that you need. Learn how to pray God's will. Learn how to ask God to do things that you don't even understand. Learn how to ask God to take control of your life as a whole. Ask Him to to truly lead and guide you in all things. Don't just give Him some things while you keep control of others. Learn how to put it all in the hands of the Lord.
I'm not say these things this week just to make you feel better. I'm saying these things because many of you are much closer than you think. To lose hope now would make all of your struggles a waste of time. Don't let your time be wasted. Don't let your tears be for nothing. Don't let your frustration be in vain. Your strength takes time and needs to be developed. You need resistance to make you grow. You also need God in you to put you in the right direction. You need God to order your steps or you will never have the victory that is promised after this storm!
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in His grace,
Bishop Carlos J. Lennon
